The Best Piece of Advice I Was Given About Living a Fulfilling Life
At 27, right before jumping into the whirlwind of marriage, kids, mortgage, and careers, an older gentleman named Tim pulled me aside and gave me advice I’ll never forget.
It was simple but brilliant.
“If I had a do-over,” he said, “I’d rent or buy a house closer to my local church.”
At first, it didn’t make much sense.
My fiancée and I were deep in discussions about where to live after we got married-should we prioritize being close to work, schools for our future kids, or our parents? The usual stuff. What never crossed our minds was church.
But Tim’s point hit home. For my wife and me, faith is the most important thing in our lives. What Tim was saying was clear:
Live your values
Whatever your values are, let them be your compass. Let them guide your decisions-even something as practical as where you live.
Don’t let society or other people’s values shape your choices. So, we bought a house close to our church-and we’ve never regretted it.
